    FIRA Benchmark Problems
A series of benchmark problems was considered for the FIRA Robot World Cup France'98 event, suggested by Peppluis Rosa and formulated by Jeffery Johnson. The benchmark problems included:

    1. Fundamental Motion of Robot Football, to gauge how well robots move from one position to another,
    2. Ball Striking Task, to move the robot from a position to strike a stationary ball,
    3. Ball-passing Task, to strike a stationary ball and to pass it to another robot,
    4. Moving Ball-striking Task, to strike a moving ball and to make it to move through a defined point,
    5. Passing a Moving Ball, to strike a moving ball and to pass it to another and,
    6. Dribbling the Ball Through Obstacles, to push the ball through a series of obstacles.

The benchmark problems gave an arena for researchers to implement the state of the art developments in related areas of technology and to test them on a competitive platform.

    Workshop and Paper Submission
All participants were requested to submit and present papers on their robots and schemes followed. Scientists and technologists involved in related areas are also encouraged to submit technical papers for the associated workshop on May 29th and 30th. No restrictions on the qualifications of the participants was imposed.
