A series of benchmark problems was considered for the FIRA Robot
World Cup France'98 event, suggested by Peppluis Rosa and formulated
by Jeffery Johnson. The benchmark problems included:
1. Fundamental Motion of Robot Football, to gauge how well robots
move from one position to another,
2. Ball Striking Task, to move the robot from a position to
strike a stationary ball,
3. Ball-passing Task, to strike a stationary ball and to pass
it to another robot,
4. Moving Ball-striking Task, to strike a moving ball and to
make it to move through a defined point,
5. Passing a Moving Ball, to strike a moving ball and to pass
it to another and,
6. Dribbling the Ball Through Obstacles, to push the ball through
a series of obstacles.
The benchmark problems gave an arena for researchers to implement
the state of the art developments in related areas of technology
and to test them on a competitive platform. |
