1. MiroSot American and European Tours
FIRA MiroSot American and European tours were conducted by Prof. Jong-Hwan Kim with two teams from KAIST in August and September respectively. The same was a grand success.
At Sacramento the ABC TV aired a news item on demonstrations. In Campinas and Rio (Brazil) roughly 30 media persons were present. MiroSot was aired as a news item by several TV companies there. Professor Kim was in a TV studio for 15 minutes for a live talk show in Campinas. In Mexico, a TV company aired the robot soccer demonstration game for one hour live. Also Televisa Sky TV aired a news item all around south America. In Vancouver, Canada, CTV (Canadian National TV) covered MiroSot games and broadcast the same. Recently CNN aired a news item on MiroSot American tour.
At Girona 3 TVs aired news items on the demos and the newspapers gave a good coverage on our activities. In Vienna we had a press conference along with the President of the Technical University of Vienna, wherein many media persons participated. The demons there, were broadcast and published as a news item by National TV companies and newspapers. In Pisa, there were two excellent professional photographers who covered our games throughout and there was a press conference with good response from the media. In Bremen, a TV company broadcast the games and the Yugosovian International TV covered the game along with interviews. It will be aired as a one hour special program on Robotics through out Europe after a month's time. In London, The Times published an article on our activities and on 19th we were in BBC studios for the famous Blue Peter's program. The same might have aired on September 19th evening by BBC.
These tours definitely help us to get a very good representation from America and Europe for the FIRA Robot World Cup98 in Paris.
2. FIRA Robot World Cup Paris'98
June 29 and 30: For setting up, training and workshop.
July 1, 2 and 3: Competitions for NaroSot, MiroSot & S-MiroSot.
In MiroSot, we will have two categories, one is the same as that of MiroSot'97 (Law 3: The host computer can send any information during the game, autonomously.) and the other one is that the host computer can send the strategies and the position information only as was designed in 1996. The latter will give more research topics for developing autonomous robots. The detailed information will be posted in the firanet soon.
