1. Welcome to FIRA.
Welcome to FIRA. On June 5th FIRA officially came into existence. FIRA has 95 assembly members from 23 countries. FIRA will hold FIRA Robot World Cup (RWC) every year to take the spirit of Science and Technology to younger generation and laymen. FIRA Assembly met on June 3rd. FIRA Executive Committee had three separate meetings during MiroSot'97. An International Organizing Committee (IOC) to organize FIRA RWC in Paris was formed during the same. Modifications of FIRA Games' rules were also discussed. Please refer to(under construction) regarding FIRA matters and list of officials.
2. FIRA Robot World Cup'98 in Paris.
FIRA Robot World Cup'98 will be held in Paris along with FIFA World Cup. On June 5th, FIRA President Professor Zeungnam Bien handed over the FIRA flag to Professor Dominique Duhaut, General Chair FIRA Robot World Cup'98.
3. FIRA Regional Championships
FIRA American Cup, Europen Cup and Asia-Pacific Cup as Regional Champioships will be held in mid May, 1998. 16 selected teams from MiroSot category and 4 from NaroSot category will be invited for the FIRA Robot World Cup'98 in Paris. Those who would like to organize FIRA Regional Champioships are requested to submit a formal proposal to FIRA Executive Committee. For the proposal forms and further details please contact Dr. Prahlad Vadakkepat (prahlad@fugue.kaist.ac.kr) at FIRA head-quarters.
4. MIROSOT'97 - Results
iroSot'97 was a grand success with 22 teams from 9 countries. Newton Research Labs, Seatle, USA beat (4-1) OverDrive, KAIST, in the final game on June 5th. MIRO, KAIST came in third.
In the S-MiroSot category, the UFO (Seoul), came to top defeating MIRAGE (KAIST), 20-6. The third place went to Newton Labs.
The Best Team Work Award was given to the ROGI/2 (Catalonia).
The MVP Robot prize was awarded to Ssing-Ssing Robot of UFO team.
