1. FIRA-ISI Robot Soccer Workshop and Championship in Dubai, U.A.E.

American University in Dubai, in conjunction with the International
NAISO Congress on INFORMATION SCIENCE INNOVATIONS, March 17-21,
2001.
Ten teams from ten countries are invited to take part in the FIRA-ISI
Robot Soccer Workshop and Championship: Australia, Austria, China,
Germany, Korea, Philippines, Poland, Singapore,Taiwan and
United Kingdom.
It is learned that, the Crown Prince of Dubai might attend the opening
ceremony on March 17, 2001.
Tentative schedule:
- March 17: Workshop on Soccer Robotics
- March 18: Orientation, group selection, and system set-up
- March 19: Preliminary games (till 4:00 pm)
- March 20: Preliminary games
- March 21: Semi-final and final games, and Award ceremony
The Robot Soccer championship will be covered by 7 or 8 Satellite
TVs from the entire Middle East.

The 4th FIRA European Championship will be held at the Technical
University of Ostrava, Czech Republic on June 5-8, 2001. During the
Championship Prof. Kopacek (Vienna Univeristy of Technology)
and Prof. Reusch (University of Dortmund) will establish the FIRA European
Chapter.

5. International Robot Olympiad 2001, Hong Kong, November 3-4, 2001
The second International Robot Olympiad will be held in Hong Kong
between November 3-4, 2001. Participants from Hong Kong, Korea,
Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand will take part in this Olympiad.
Each participating nation will organize copetitions at the local and
National levels. The local competition will take place in May 2001,
followed by the competitions at the National level during the Summer
Vacation. The third Korean National robot olympiad competition will
be held on August 18 and 19, 2001.
Participtants within the age of 12 to 17 years are allowed
to take part in the International Robot Olympiad. It is required
to build and program the robots independently. Participants are
expected to take part in different categories of competitions like,
Robot Soccer, Micro Robot Maze, Robot Racing, Robot Adventure, etc.
