FIRA wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Marcel Bergerman,
Dr. Elfes, Dr. Tavares, Dr. Romano, Dr. Campos, Stellar, Elliane,
Salvania, Chris Messom and all the other organizers for their hard
work and effort for making FIRA Brazil'99 a grand success, as could
seen from the opening ceremony, performance and fireworks for more
than 2 hours, championship, the wonderful closing ceremony and the
media coverages by CNN, Discovery Channel, Globo, etc. Special thanks
also should be given to the City Mayor of Campinas, Notre Dame school
and Motorola, Sun Microsystems, Execelsior, 3M, Alles Bier Restaurant,
etc, for their sopnsors and to the volunteering students of Notre
Dame students, without which FIRA Brazil'99 never could have been
materialized.

3. FIRA Robot World Cup Austria'2000 and China'2001

FIRA will host the Robot World Cup 2000 in Rockhampton, Queensland,
Austria from September 18 to 24 in 2000. Four categories of competiton
will be held; MiroSot, NaroSot, KheperaSot and RoboSot. The FIRA
Regional/National Championship will be held prior to the same to select
the teams. For more information, please contact Prof. Russel Stonier,

FIRA 2001 will be held in BeiJing, China, which was decided at the FIRA
Brazil'99. FIRA Robot World Cup'2001 will be organized by the FIRA
China Robot Soccer Association (CRSA) (President Hong Bingrong,
Vice-President Xu Xinhe).


4. China Robot Soccer Invitation Competition

The first national robot soccer competition among invited teams, which
was organized by Chinese Branch of FIRA-CRSA, has been finished in
Harbin from July 30 to 31 sucessfully. Fourteen invited teams
participated in the competition.

"WanMA" team from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) has got the 1st
place and "HeiLong" team from HIT was 2nd Place. The First National
Robot
Soccer Tournament will be held in Harbin from October 8 to 12 in 1999.
