The 5th International Robot Olympiad will be held from November
7th to 10th, 2003 in Daejeon, Korea.
■ Objectives
Robot Olympiad is an event for a science, technology and education
aimed for offering our promising youngsters an opportunity to expand
their horizons by designing and building robot models and experiencing
robot world. FIRA Robot World Cup has limited participants to university
students, however, the ‘Robot Olympiad’ is wide open for science
prodigies from all grades of schools, elementary, middle, and high,
and even for varsity students including graduate students:
- To provide a creative event in preparation for “a century of science
and technology” in the new millennium.
- To foster science and technology visions of the young generations.
- To provide an opportunity to share their ideas and to build friendship
as world-leaders of future.
■ Period: November 7th - 10th, 2003
■ Venue: Daejeon, Korea

- Robot Line Tracing (Under 12)
- Robot Survival Game (Under 12)
- FIRA Robot Soccer (13-18)
* Multi-Task Categories
- Legged Robot Obstacle Race (Under 12)
- Up and Down the Stairs (Under 12 / 13-18)
- Vision-Robot Rescue Operation (13-18)
* Creativity Categories (Under 12 / 13-18 / Over 19)
- Robotics @ Home
- Special Theme (will be announced on-the-spot)

- Demonstrations of new robot kits

- Teams: maximum 3 members + 1 coach (over 19)
separated by age under 12 / 13-18
- Registration fee will be announced soon
(national representatives can be supported by local organizer).

■ About Venue: Daejeon
Daejeon is in the center of South Korea, and isthe secondary administration
city where the Daejeon Government Complex is located. Over the years,
Daejeon has grown into an undisputed center of excellence in science and
technology, blending seamlessly with its rich cultural heritage. With state-of
-the-art-facilities that rival those found in Silicon Valley of the United States,
the Daedeok Research Complex plays host to more than 16,000 highly qualified
researchers. The Expo Science Park was built in 1993 to accommodate the
Daejeon International Expo, which drew more than 14 million visitors. The
National Science Museum is another landmarkthat showcases Daejeon's
status as Korea's Silicon Valley.
