Dear FIRA Cup Participants,
On behalf of FIRA, I'd like to begin by thanking each and every one of you for your contribution and participation in 2003 FIRA Cup and Congress Austria.
Although 2003 FIRA Cup Austria has come to an end, I believe this is not the end, but in fact a new beginning. It will be a new beginning for an advanced, constructive and diverse event involving not only robotics, but also all parts of society such as science, technology and art.
As we have evidenced from the improved performance of participating robots, all the participants have put in lot of efforts and time to achieve the level of competencies in this particular research area.
At this point, I have no doubt in believing that the continuing efforts and contributions from every one of you working with autonomous mobile robotic systems will make our FIRA community more contributable to prepare our scientific world more liveable.
Through 2003 FIRA Cup Austria, we all have shared a meaningful time to realize our major goal such as taking the spirit of science and technology to the general public, in particular, to young generation.
I would like to conclude by thanking again FIRA committee members in Austria, who organized this memorable event with the tremendous effort, as well as all of you who have participated and contributed to making this event a great success. In particular, I have a distinct pleasure to congratulate Prof. Peter Kopacek and Prof. Man-Wook Han, the organizers of 2003 FIRA Cup Austria for their initiatives and energetic efforts, without which the championship never could have been materialised.
I sincerely hope that you all have enjoyed this memorable event, and our congratulations and deepest gratitude again to all of you.
I will look forward to seeing you all in the next FIRA Cup, in Busan, Korea.
Thank you all.
Best wishes,
Jong-Hwan Kim, Professor and Director,
President, FIRA http://www.FIRA.net, IROC http://www.IROC.org
