1. FIRA Robot World Cup Australia 2000.

The FIRA Robot World Cup 2000 will be held in Australia, in three
venues in Rockhampton and Gladstone from Sept. 18 to 24, 2000,
along with the Summer Olympics. A worskshop is also planned along
with the event. Participants are encouraged to submit papers for
the workshop.
Teams are requested to register for the FIRA CUP. The details of
the registration will be available on the event webpage:

by 23rd June.

The third FIRA European Cup 2000 in MiroSot was held in Poland,
Poznan from May 22 to 26, 2000. Teams from Germany, Austria, England
and Poland participated. The top three teams are as follows:
1. DREAM TEAM POZNAN (Poland)
2. AUSTRO (Austria)
3. MENSA DORMUND (Germany)

3. FIRA Asia-Pacific Cup Singapore 2000 and the International
The FIRA Asia-Pacific Cup 2000 was held in Singapore along with
the Singapore Robotic Games from May 23 to 26. Thirteen (13) teams
from India, Korea, Philippines and Singapore participated.
Competitions were held in two difefrent venues at the Singapore
Polytechnic Campus. An International Symposium on Autonomous Robots
and Agents (ISARA'2000; General Chair Tong-Heng Lee, Program Chiars:
V. Prahlad, K.C. Tan and K. K. Tan, National University of Singapore)
was held on May 26 along with. The FIRA President, Prof. Kim, Jong-Hwan,
of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
delivered a keynote speech on "Micro-Robots for Education and
Entertainment," at the Symposium.
The top three teams are as follows:
1. SOTY IV (KAIST, Korea)
2. Nemesis (NgeeAnn Polytechnic, Singapore)
3. SPECialCubs (Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore)

4. Micro-Robot Soccer at Massey University, Albany Campus, New Zealand.
Prof. G. Sen Gupta of Singapore Polytechnic visited Massey University
with his MiroSot Robots from 24th April to 6th May 2000. He and Prof.
Chris Messom of Massey University joinlty did development work for
Mirosot.
A half day seminar cum demonstration was arranged for the engineering
students. The students were very excited to see the robots moving
around and playing a game of soccer as they had never seen it live
before. Massey University plans to develop a Mirosot team in near
future.
5. MiroSot Friendship Match in Shenyang, China, June 2000.
A MiroSot friendship game is scheduled at the special MiroSot venue
of Shenyang Science Museum, China on June 23 during the 3rd Shenyang
Festival of Science and Technology (SFST) (June 18-25, 2000).
The FBI team of KAIST, Korea (Prof. Lee, Ju-Jang) will play
demonstration matches with the NEW NEU CHINA team of the North Eastern
University, PRC(Prof. Xu, Xinhe). Prof. Lee, Ju-Jang of KAIST will
deliver a lecture on "Soccer Robot and Entertainment Robot"
at the venue.

6. The 1st Philippine Micro-Robot Soccer Games, July 2000.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippines will
hold MiroSot friendship matches among three teams of Philippines and
Korea, at the Philippines Trade and Training Center, Pasay City on the
opening day (July 10, 2000) of the annual National Science and
Technology Week celebration and Science and Technology fair on
July 10-24, 2000.
